Recently Google added the ability for businesses to add a "Message" button to their Google search results. This is an exciting advancement and will let you add Guestfriend to one of your restaurant's highest traffic sources.
By adding this feature to your search results on your Google My Business listing, you'll be able to cut down on inbound phone calls from potential customers and let them make reservations and learn about your restaurant directly from the search results page!
Here's what it will look like:
To connect your Guestfriend virtual host to your Google Message button, just log in to your Guestfriend dashboard at www.getguestfriend.com.
Then navigate to the Set up tab for the restaurant you want to connect, and scroll down to the Google My Business section:
Click ENABLE. A Google screen will pop up asking you to select and sign into the correct Google account. Be sure to use the account associated with your restaurant. Once you've selected the correct account, your Guestfriend dashboard will change slightly to list out the pages you manage on GMB.
Select the account you want to connect and that's it! Try searching for your restaurant on mobile on Google to make sure the Message button is showing up. If you don't see it, shoot an email to your Guestfriend rep and we'll get it fixed right away.
Alternate Method (if the previous method isn't working)
To get started, first log in to your Google My Business page.
If you haven't yet claimed your Google My Business listing, you can do so by going to this link and following the prompts. By claiming your Google My Business page, you'll be able to customize exactly how your business appears on search results.
Once you're on the dashboard, look for the word Messaging on the left side of the screen.
Click Messaging and you'll be directed to a page that looks like this:
Now fill out the fields to get your bot set up on Google!
- Write a welcome Message (feel free to use the same Welcome Message you wrote in your Guestfriend dashboard)
- Make sure that Messaging is toggled to ON
- Add your Guestfriend custom SMS number (which you can find at the bottom of the Set Up page in your Guestfriend dashboard) to the Phone section
That's it! You're now all set up and anyone searching for you on Google will be able to directly message with your Guestfriend chatbot from their phone, saving you valuable time and letting guests easily get any info they're looking for.

Disconnecting Guestfriend from your Google account
To disconnect your virtual host from Google My Business, just go to the Messaging tab of your GMB account and click the blue slider that says ON.
